Hi. I’m Nikki Usher, an assistant professor at George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs. You can find my new book, Interactive Journalism: Hackers, Data, and Code, a look at the evolving role of hacker journalism, on Amazon. My first book, Making News at The New York Times, was an in-depth, ethnographic portrait of the newspaper in the digital age. I am interested in the changing shape of journalism in a new media world and am particularly interested in news production and the future of journalism. I have been a Reynolds Fellow at The University of Missouri School of Journalism and a Tow Fellow at The Columbia School of Journalism. I regularly write, comment and consult on the future of journalism. On this site, you can find information about my research, my publications and my presentations, teaching, and links to an occasional blog post. You can contact me at nusher at gwu dot edu or @nikkiusher.
